Oncology Massage
An extremely light, gentle and relaxing massage. Many clients comment on how lovely it is to receive nurturing touch. It is a time where they can relax and just "be".
For symptom management, research has shown Oncology Massage improves quality of life for people with a history of diagnosis of cancer - 47% improvement in pain levels, 42% improvement in fatigue, 59% improvement in anxiety levels, 51% improvement in nausea and 48% improvement in depression. Other problems such as insomnia, brain fog, dry mouth and shortness of breath showed overall improvement of 48% (ref: Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Centre NY 2004). Many side effects of treatment can be alleviated such as constipation, muscle tension, peripheral neuropathy, scar tissue adhesions and lymphoedema.
Claire is listed with Breast Cancer Network Australia (BCNA) and Oncology Massage training, as a qualified therapist to see clients with cancer or who are recovering from cancer and she is fully insured as an Oncology Massage Therapist. Claire is able to modify and adjust a conventional massage for a client with a history or diagnosis of cancer, being mindful of any contraindications for massage, ensuring a safe and effective treatment plan for them.

Lymphatic Drainage
Employs gentle strokes, using a systematic approach to stimulate the drainage of lymph fluid, encouraging lymphatic flow and fluid movements. It assists clients who are recovering from a long-standing illness, helps in the elimination of toxins or oedema and helps with stomach and bowel conditions.
It is ideal for clients with lymphoedema or after surgery involving the lymph nodes - breast surgery (augmentation or mastectomy). Lymphatic Drainage can provide relief from the pain and swelling and greatly supports the healing process, reducing fluid retention throughout the whole body.
